| Garden Greene is a 42 unit affordable development designed for residents who are 55 years of age or older. The spacious one and two bedroom apartments feature energy star appliances, central heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans and patios or balconies with each unit and well-manicured common areas including gazebos and picnic tables with grills. The development provides a large beautiful community building where residents can sit and read in the library area or relax in rocking chairs provided on the back porch. Residents can enjoy social activities and planned holiday events as well as visits from local agencies providing services.
This project was financed through the use of tax credits and state HOME funds through the Alabama Housing Finance Authority and equity provided by Enterprise Community Partners. In addition, this project also received an Affordable Housing Program grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. The City of Lanett and the Lanett Senior Services Center were also very instrumental in seeing this project to fruition. Architectural services were provided by McKean & Associates Architects, LLC of Montgomery, Alabama. This success of Garden Greene has been an outstanding example of collaboration among the neighborhood, the City, the local senior service providers, the Alabama Council on Human Relations and The Bennett Group.
